“Everybody is doing the same old thing,” Missy Elliott reportedly once said. Well, in terms of celebrities and their cars, there are some who don’t follow the norm, especially when you take a look at some of their rarer machines, cars that most people can only dream of owning. These are not ordinary machines. Their collections are the envy of gearheads worldwide. And some of their cars are rare!
But what defines rare? Is it the number of cars produced? Some of the supercars on this list have very limited production numbers, such as Tom Brady’s Vanquish-S. Or, is it the price tag? Sometimes, the unattainable becomes a dream for many, such as Birdman’s $8 million Exelero. Or, is it that concept car, that no one has ever imagined, but has nonetheless been actualized, such as 50 Cent and his White Lightning? Let’s take a look at the celebrities and their rare cars.
9 Missy Elliott – Spyker C8
The Spyker C8 may not be the rarest car on this list (even though, it is rare!). But consider the other cars in Missy Elliot’s garage! Very few people can boast about a collection that includes a Ferrari Enzo, an Aston Martin Vanquish, a couple of Lamborghini Gallardos, to name a few. But this four-time Grammy Award winning artist can!
Now to the Spyker C8 Spyder! Powered by a 4.2-liter V8 engine, delivering 400 horsepower, offering top speeds of 186 mph. Yes, the Spyker C8 sings and the orchestra of Missy Elliot’s other cars delivers a crescendo of power and speed, unlike few other garages.
8 Floyd Mayweather – Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita
Floyd Mayweather, unbeaten, holding 11 world titles in five weight divisions, loves his cars. Just see the list of the cars he owns or has owned. A Bugatti Veyron, a Ferrari 458 Italia, a Ferrari Enzo and let’s not forget about the Lamborghini Aventador, to name a few. But there is one car he once owned that deserves a further look. Yes, his Kenigsegg CCXR Trevita!
The Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita can fly, reaching speeds of up to 254 mph, delivering 1,018 horsepower. The Trevita was described as “a diamond on wheels”. Mayweather sold his Trevita for a succulent 2.6 million, living up to the boxer’s nickname of Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
7 Wyclef Jean – Pagani Zonda C12
Wyclef Jean has won 3 Grammy Awards, sold in excess of 100 million albums and even worked with the extraordinary Whitney Houston (calling his collaboration on the song “My Love is Your Love” as a “mind-blowing” experience). But let’s get to his car collection and of course, his Pagani Zonda C12.
There’s no doubt that Wyclef Jean’s garage is filled with some nice machines. His 2003 Hummer H2 and his Lamborghini Murcielago, for instance. But the Pagani Zonda C12, with its carbon fiber body and its V12 engine, first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1999, hits the perfect note.
6 50 Cent – White Lightning
Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent, loves his cars. There is no doubt about that! The award winning rapper and songwriter, who has also successfully entered the world of writing and producing films, owns a stable of spectacular machines, including a Maserati MC12, a Lamborghini Murcielago, a Ferrari FF and a Rolls-Royce Ghost. But let’s take a peek at his concept car!
It was the result of a collaboration with Parker Brother Concepts in 2012 and cost $1.55 million to make! The White Lightning can reportedly reach speeds of up to 250 mph. The inspirations were Formula One Racing cars and jet fighters.
5 Jerry Seinfeld – 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder
“My car stinks is what happened. And it’s destroying the lives of everyone in its path,” Seinfeld said to Kramer on the episode of The Smelly Car (1993). Well, the same cannot be said about the 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder that Jerry Seinfeld once owned.
The 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder is rare, with only 70 ever produced in the year. Delivering 110 horsepower with 88.5 lb-ft torque, it has a 1.5-liter air-cooled aluminum flat-4 engine. As for the price tag that Seinfeld sold this rare piece of automobile history for; a sweet $5,335,000! As Kramer used to say on the popular sitcom, “Giddy up!”
4 Beyonce – 1959 Silver Cloud Rolls-Royce Convertible
Here’s a birthday present anyone would be delighted to get! Yes, a 1959 Silver Cloud Rolls-Royce convertible! Jay Z surprised Beyonce with this stunning Rolls on her 25th birthday. Reportedly, it cost a cool 1 million dollars.
Beyonce’s 1959 Rolls-Royce convertible is powered by a 6.2 liter engine, capable of acceleration from 0-60 mph in 10 seconds. The blue leather interior is exquisite, complimenting other features of the car. This was one sweet birthday present!
3 Tom Brady -TB12 Aston Martin Vanquish S Volante
Tom Brady is a quarterback superstar! Five Super Bowl MVP awards. Seven Super Bowl rings. Once with the New England Patriots, now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady is considered the greatest quarterback ever. But there is more to Tom Brady than football. His collection of cars is something to behold, let alone the rare Vanquish-S.
Tom Brady’s TB12 Aston Martin Vanquish S Volante is powered by a 5.9-liter V12 engine, delivering 595 horsepower, capable of top speeds of 201 mph. Only 12 of these cars were produced! This piece of exquisite technology delivers yet another touchdown!
2 Ralph Lauren – McLaren F1 LM
Ralph Lauren represents a brand defined by luxury. A fashion designer and businessman who conquered the heights of his industry. But then browse his car collection. A 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi” and a 1958 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Spyder, to name a couple. But let’s take a look at his ultra-rare McLaren F1 LM.
The McLaren F1 LM is powered by a 6.1-L BMW V12 engine, delivering 680 horsepower with 520 lb.-ft of torque, capable of top speeds of 243 mph, racing to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. Not bad for someone who started as a salesman for a tie company!
1 Jay Leno – EcoJet Car
Jay Leno loves his cars. Reportedly, his collection has over 286 cars (and probably growing). Some of his cars include a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, a Lamborghini Countach, a 1994 Mclaren F1 Redux, but let’s not forget that rare 2016 EcoJet car.
Delivering 650 horsepower with 400 lb-ft of torque, Jay Leno’s concept car is like no other. Powered by a Honeywell LT-101 turbine engine and composed of carbon fiber and Kevlar, this two-seater is definitely something special!
