After a year’s absence due to the pandemic, the David Cone Celebrity Golf Classic to benefit the Ed Lucas Foundation returns this summer.

It will be held Monday, July 19 at the Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park,

The Ed Lucas Foundation, spearheaded by Jersey City native and Jersey Journal columnist Ed Lucas, provides funds for the training of seeing eye dogs, college scholarships for the blind and disabled, diabetes research and disabled veterans, among other charitable endeavors.

“David and I are very happy to be back this year for our Classic.  We look forward to seeing old friends and new friends for a day of fun for a great cause,” said Lucas.

Cone, now a Yankees broadcaster, was a star pitcher mainly for the Mets and Yankees in the 1980s and 1990s.

Country club management said it would strictly adhere to COVID-19 protocols, including capacity limits, with dinner guests having the option to be in the ballroom or under a large tent outdoors.

The silent and live auctions this year will be done online to minimize physical contact.

Golfing foursomes are $2,200 while individual golfers are $550 each.

Tickets for the cocktail party and awards dinner, which includes live entertainment, are $175 each.

Checks are payable to the Ed Lucas Foundation, 2612 Hawthorne Ave., Union, NJ 07083-4928 or contact EdLucas0103@gmail.com.
