With Halloween this weekend (Halloweekend?) you may or may not be scrambling to decide on a last-minute costume for that party you just got invited to. In case you needed some inspiration as we head into peak spooky season, take a cue from these amazing celebrity Halloween costumes.
1) Gigi Hadid as Sandy from Grease
Tell me about it, stud. Sandy’s transformation at the end of Grease is iconic, if a little questionable in terms of gender politics and the whole idea of staying true to oneself…but put that aside for a moment because her outfit rules. It’s also one you can easily recreate with items you likely have at home: shiny black leggings, an off-the-shoulder top, and a killer leather jacket.
2) Lupita Nyong’o as Dionne from Clueless
All of the costumes from Clueless are classics, but none more so than Cher and Dionne’s incredible plaid skirt sets. Lupita Nyong’o’s Dionne ensemble is perfect down to the details, with that incredible 1990s cell phone as a perfect finishing touch.
3) Heidi Klum as Princess Fiona from Shrek
As the host of one of the most popular celebrity Halloween parties for over a decade, Heidi Klum has unveiled too many incredible costumes to name, including but not limited to: Jessica Rabbit, an old lady, clones of herself as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, and an alien from outer space. With her access to top costume designers, makeup artists, and special effects artists, she can transform into practically anything, but her turn as Princess Fiona is one of her most impressive. Even if you don’t have access to movie-quality ogre prosthetics, you can rock Fiona’s green dress, ogre ears, and braid.
4) Kim Kardashian As Cher
The Kardashian-Jenners love Halloween and usually have some pretty impressive costumes, but Kim Kardashian’s ode to Cher (with BFF Jonathan Cheban as Sonny Bono) is one of the best. It’s a perfect recreation of Cher’s Bob Mackey dress she wore to the Academy Awards in the 1970s, but it is also fun and on-trend with today’s styles.
5) Harry Styles as Elton John
Elton John has so many extravagant costumes to use as Halloween inspiration, but I love that Harry Styles went with Elton’s sequined Dodgers getup. Don’t forget your most oversize pair of bedazzled glasses!
6) Zoe Kravitz
Am I 100% certain what Zoe Kravitz is dressing up as here? No (although it seems to be a lounging vampire of sorts). When you are Zoe Kravitz, however, you can wear whatever you want on Halloween (or any day) and it is immediately cool.
7) Kendall Jenner as an Austin Powers Fembot
Like I said, the Kardashian-Jenners live for Halloween, and Kendall Jenner absolutely crushed it with this swinging 60s fembot ensemble.
8) The Weeknd and Bella Hadid as Beetlejuice and Lydia Deetz
If you’re in need of a couple’s costume, you cannot go wrong with one of the most memorable spooky duos in movie history.
9) Nicky Hilton Rothschild as Paris Hilton
Is there anything better than a meta costume? I think not, which is why it is so genius of Nicky Hilton to go as sister Paris Hilton in her iconic early 2000s crystal handkerchief dress. Even if you aren’t related to a Hilton, this dress makes for a fun costume that you can wear outside of Halloween on your next Vegas weekend.
10) Charlie Cox as Loki and Tom Hiddleston as Daredevil
Speaking of meta costumes, Charlie Cox and Tom Hiddleston switched up their on-screen superhero personas for a playful pair of costumes (Cox played Daredevil in the Netflix series, and Tom Hiddleston has portrayed Loki throughout the Marvel films and TV shows). Again, you may not have actually played Loki in The Avengers, but it still makes for a good costume.
