After last year’s main summer series was called off due to Covid-19, Love Island is finally returning to our screens on Monday.

ITV2’s popular dating reality show is known for making social media superstars out of its contestants, but the Love Island villa has also had its fair share of celebrity guests walk through its doors over the years.

From Craig David making an Islander cry in 2019 to Mark Wright’s surprise appearance back in the first series, there have been some memorable celebrities popping into the villa both in-person and virtually.

Here are seven of Love Island’s best celebrity appearances so far. Let us know how many you remembered in the comments below.

1. Sean Paul

Sean Paul visited the Love Island villa in Cape Town for a special performance during the first series of winter Love Island last February.

The famous DJ performed some of his greatest hits as the Islanders — including series winners Paige Turley and Finn Tapp — danced the night away.

2. Craig David

Craig David’s Love Island debut in 2019 provided one of season five’s most memorable moments, with his surprise appearance moving super-fan contestant Anton Danyluk to tears.

The singer gave an exclusive performance of When You Know What Love Is, and partied with the Islanders.

Love Island 2019 was won by Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea who split shortly after leaving the villa. It has recently been confirmed Amber will be hosting a new series about mental health alongside Kem Cetinay.

3. Stormzy

In 2017, rapper Stormzy entered the villa via video call to surprise budding rappers Chris Hughes and Kem Cetinay as they prepared for the talent show.

The star then gave the contestants some advice for their performance before posing with Chris, Kem and Marcel Somerville for a selfie.

Chris and series winner Kem later went on to release their own single, Little Bit Leave It, which reached number 15 in the charts.

In the third series of Love Island, Kem and Amber were crowned the winners and decided to split the £50,000 prize money, but they split up just six months later.

4. Danny Dyer

Fan favourite couple Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham won over the hearts of viewers and went on to win the fourth series after being coupled up since day one.

It wasn’t just viewers who approved of their relationship, however. Dani’s dad, Danny Dyer, appeared on the show via video call to give the couple his official seal of approval.

His appearance was highly anticipated as viewers remembered they ‘meet the parents’ episode was due. Dani has since returned the favour and appeared on her dad’s soap of Eastenders.

5. Tom Zanetti

Tom Zanetti is another famous face who made an appearance in season four of ITV2’s hit reality dating show.

Best known for his song You Want Me, the British DJ and music producer provided the soundtrack for the Love Island Ministry of Sound party in 2018, which saw contestants party by the pool.

Love Island’s fourth series was won by Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham with Laura Anderson and Paul Knops as runners up.

Dani and Jack split but both have gone on to find love with others.

6. Mark Wright

Going all the way back to the first series in 2015, fans were surprised to hear that TV personality Mark Wright was entering the famous Love Island villa, despite being married to actress Michelle Keegan.

The former TOWIE star wasn’t there to couple up, but rather stopped by to DJ for contestant Lauren Richardson’s 27th birthday.

Mark Wright has continued his with his work as a DJ and has since joined Heart FM.

7. Marcel Somerville

Marcel was a contestant in 2017’s series, but he makes it onto this list because of his pre-Love Island life in the spotlight.

The ex-Islander and influencer is also a British rapper, DJ, record producer and former member of 10-piece hip hop group Blazin’ Squad, best known for their 2002 single, Crossroads.

Viewers will remember Marcel’s constant name-dropping, followed by his delight when one of his fellow contestants eventually remembered the band.

Love Island starts at 9pm on Monday, June 28 on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox.
