Queen Elizabeth employs a pastry chef.
The 95-year-old monarch wants a “Demi Chef de Partie” that is required to create a variety of culinary delights for the numerous events held by the royal family during the year.
The job description on the Royal Household website has an “About you” section that lists the basic characteristics that an ideal candidate must have.
“As you can imagine, the standards and details here are very high and busy every day, so you need to be an ambitious and qualified pastry chef with at least a year or two of experience.
“You may have experienced it before in a 5-star kitchen or similar environment, but it’s your ability and enthusiasm to efficiently provide all aspects of the pastry kitchen we’re looking for. ..
“You work best in your team, and your strong communication skills and adaptability allow you to enjoy your work with your colleagues.
“But most importantly, you have a clear passion for food, especially pastries, and you will want to learn new skills.”
The role is primarily based on the Queen’s home of Buckingham Palace in London, but requires some travel to the “other royal palace”, and successful candidates are “comprehensive perks packages” and “living”. There are also options that can be done.
The description adds: “This role is based in London and includes trips to other royal residences.
“In return, we look forward to working in a unique and exciting work environment, including 33 days of vacation (including bank holidays) and a 15% employer-contributed pension plan (with flexibility options). Benefits package-to increase contributions or withdraw as salary) and meals at work. “This role is to live together if all meals are provided (with salary adjustments). It also provides an option to do so.
“Training and development are encouraged and a variety of recreational facilities are available.”
