  • Plymouth in 1980 – the year Prince Charles and other celebrities flocked to the city – Plymouth Live

 January 31

by Carolina

From Fern Britton to Prince Charles, the city got its fair share of celebrity visits in 1980

It’s time for our weekly trip down memory lane – and this week we’re focusing on the year 1980.

While 1980 may bring back memories of ACDC, ripped tights, biker jackets and shoulder pads, these photographs may unlock forgotten moments or events in your life.

Anyone who lived in the city in this era will be able to tell you what a wonderful time it was.

Our archive photographs show many famous faces who posed for pictures, including Fern Britton with servicemen from HMS Euryalus and Prince Charles’ visit to Princetown.

Tamar Secondary School and Oxford Street School are also featured.
