The Masked Singer is going on tour in 2022. The show will visit 50 cities across the U.S. and will include surprise celebrity guests at every show.
The Masked Singer is hitting the road in 2022 with a tour set to visit 50 cities. The tour was meant to happen earlier but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The competition show originated in Korea, but the American version aired in January 2019 and is currently in its sixth season. The show features various celebrities singing and competing against each other while hiding their identity behind elaborate costumes. After their performance, four panelists–Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger–must guess the performer’s identity based on their voice and clue package. The audience then votes on their favorite masked performer, and the celebrity with the least amount of votes is eliminated from The Masked Singer and must unmask.
Some of the previous celebrity contestants throughout the series are Donny Osmond, Caitlyn Jenner, Dionne Warwick and Joey Fatone. Most recently, the Hamster was voted off the show and revealed to be comedian and actor Rob Schneider. The last standing singer wins a golden mask trophy at the end of the season. The past five winners are T-Pain, Wayne Brady, Kandi Burruss, LeAnn Rimes and Nick Lachey.
Now The Masked Singer is leaving the small screen and heading around the country to 50 different cities. According to People, The Masked Singer tour will include fan-favorite characters from the show and surprise celebrity guests. Each show on the tour will have a celebrity guest host from the show, typically hosted by Nick Cannon, as well as a local celebrity in disguise. The audience will then have to guess who the secret celebrity is based on various clues. The secret celebrity will unmask at the end of the show.
Fans celebrated on Twitter in response to the announcement. When the official The Masked Singer Twitter account tweeted the news, @CraigTheHusky responded, “IT’S BACK, IT’S BACK!!!!!!!!” The show was initially scheduled for summer 2020 but was shelved until further notice. Now that live shows are back, The Masked Singer tour kicks off in St. Louis on May 28. The show will also make stops in Chicago, Boston, Nashville and more.
Though the show has yet to announce which celebrities will be joining the tour, fans are ecstatic to see the beloved competition show live and in person. The Masked Singer has featured world-famous performers from all generations, so the list of potential singers goes on. It’s unclear who qualifies as a “local celebrity,” but with some of the shocking reveals the show has had in the past, Tim McGraw might show up on stage at the Nashville show dressed as a giant bear. One thing is for sure: the tour has a whole lot of surprises in store for fans.
The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
