While romance might seem unlikely when you’re in the Australian jungle, for some celebrities, it’s the perfect place to find a date.
Since I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, hosted by Ant and Dec, debuted back in 2002, viewers have been treated to a variety of romances – and bromances – while watching the celebrities take part in the challenging reality series.
From Katie Price and Peter Andre ’s iconic love story that began in the jungle, to the unlikely pairing of Vicky Pattinson and lothario Spencer Matthews, we take a look at the I’m A Celebrity lovebirds over the years…
Katie Price and Peter Andre
The most famous jungle romance began in 2004, when Katie – then best known by her alter-ego moniker of Jordan – met the Mysterious Girl hitmaker when they arrived in the Australian camp.
At the time, Katie, then 23, was in a relationship with Scott Sullivan, but she claimed she was “fixated” with Peter as soon as she clapped eyes on him.
“Having Pete there in the jungle did make it easier because you’d fall asleep thinking of him and wake up seeing him there,” she said during an interview on the I’m A Celebrity… A Jungle Story special last year.
“It was a proper love story and I think me and Pete are the only ones who had kids come out of it,” Katie added.
The couple couldn’t keep their hands off each other while in the jungle, and after they were voted out, they continued their romance when they landed back in the UK.
Katie and Peter wed in 2005, and welcomed two children – son Junior and daughter Princess – but the couple split in 2009.
Marc Bannerman and Cerys Matthews
Former EastEnders star and the Catatonia frontwoman struck up a romance during the 2007 series, but the lovestruck duo caused controversy with their on-screen chemistry.
Marc was in a relationship with girlfriend Sarah Matravers, but his head was turned by Cerys, prompting a heartbroken Sarah to wish that the couple “rot in hell”.
It was claimed by their fellow campmate John Burton Race that the couple had sex while in the jungle, and he told MailOnline that there were times when “the pair disappeared off together”.
Following their stint in the jungle, Marc and Cerys dated for four months before breaking up, then reuniting, but ending things for good in 2008.
Mark Wright and Emily Scott
The former The Only Way Is Essex star tried every chat up line in the book to woo model Emily while they were in the jungle back in 2011.
Mark even stripped naked in front of the blonde beauty, and the couple stunned their fellow campmates as they gave each other steamy massages in their hammocks.
While he finished as runner up, losing out to McFly guitarist Dougie Poynter who was crowned King of the Jungle, Mark told Ant and Dec that there might be a future for him and Emily once they were back in the UK.
“Emily is a very good-looking girl and a lovely girl to be around. We will see when I get out, she is a nice girl,” he teased.
However, he later said their relationship was nothing more than a “friendly flirt”.
Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo and Jack Maynard
The Made in Chelsea star enjoyed a brief romance with YouTube star Jack Maynard in the 2017 series, with the young campmates flirting and spending quality time together while in the jungle.
Unfortunately for their budding romance, Jack was removed by show bosses after racist and homphobic tweets were unearthed, but the pair reportedly stayed in touch.
The duo shared pictures of each other on social media, but Georgia, who was crowned Queen of the Jungle, and Jack cooled off their romance just weeks later.
Spencer Matthews and Vicky Pattison
Another Made in Chelsea star struck up an unlikely romance in the jungle, as Spencer hooked up with Geordie Shore star Vicky.
Back in 2015, the flirty couple wowed viewers with their electric onscreen chemistry, and despite Spencer being removed from the show after admitting to a steroid addiction, the duo managed to enjoy a brief romance after she won the reality show and was crowned queen.
However, Vicky called time on their relationship, and she told Loose Women that they broke up during a romantic trip to Monaco.
“I was very open and honest and said I liked him, but I liked myself more. I don’t want to be another girl who Spencer Matthews cheats on,” she said.
“We’ve decided to remain friends, he’s a lovely lad but unfortunately just not for me,” Vicky added.

Love was in the air during the 2015 series, as campmates Ferne and George also enjoyed a dalliance during their time in the jungle.
Viewers were invested in their budding romance, as they became very close while taking part in the ITV show, and the couple reportedly enjoyed a couple of dates after they left Australia.
But their romance wasn’t meant to be, and in 2016, George bravely shared the news he was bisexual, prompting Ferne to send her support to her good friend.
“I am so proud of him and so supportive that he’s done this,” she gushed.
Joey Essex and Amy Willerton
The Only Way Is Essex star tried his hardest to woo model Amy during their appearance on the 2013 series, but some sceptical viewers thought it was a ‘showmance’.
Amy proved to be an unpopular contestant, and some fans suggested Joey had struck up a romance with her to improve her popularity with viewers.
The former Miss Universe became close to Joey during the show, and after they were evicted, they enjoyed a few dates.
But after four weeks, ditsy Joey dumped Amy, with things fizzling out after Christmas.
