I’m a Celebrity fans were blown away when they found out Dame Arlene Phillips’ real age.

The former Strictly Come Dancing judge is one of 10 celebs competing to become King or Queen of the Castle in the 21st series of the hit ITV reality contest.

Dame Arlene, from Prestwich, was a part of the losing team in the Hell Hole Challenge, unfortunately meaning that she was banished to the dreaded Castle Clink.

Celebrities in the Clink will be on basic rations and have to sleep on a hard floor in Gwrych Castle.


But fans were gobsmacked and also worried when the star from Prestwich revealed that she’s 78.

@iambri_97 wrote: “78 year old Arlene Phillips being in that cold room in this weather, no solid bed, is genuinely stressing me out, need to get her into main camp #ImACeleb.

Arlene in The Telegraph said about her stay: “It’s the weirdest experience waking up in a dormitory with adults. It’s not what I do. I don’t camp.”

The choreographer started her career developing her own style of jazz dancing which was heavily influenced by modern American jazz dance.

She taught this unique style at different London studios such as the Pineapple Dance Studios and the Italia Conti Stage School.

Some of the most famous works she’s been involved in included the 1982 film Annie and the Duran Duran song The Wild Boys which was named best British Music Video in 1985.
