Some celebrities have had trouble with drugs and alcohol which have massively affected their lives, but there are some who had turned their addictions around and now enjoy a life of sobriety.
A few stars have opted to stop drinking due to bad past experiences, alcohol abuse or dependency, while some simply want to live a healthier lifestyle.
Cutting down or giving up alcohol alcohol completely can have a whole host of health benefits, including weight loss or better sleep.
Many of the famous faces have visited rehab to get help with their troubles, while others have relied on the help of those closest to them.
Here is a list of the celebs who are celebrating a life with less alcohol.
Rapper Eminem, who is also known as Marshall Mathers, has been sober for 13 years after he suffered from an accidental overdose of the drug methadone in 2007.
He went to rehab and has remained sober since.
The Harry Potter main character developed an alcohol addiction while filming for the world famous film franchise.
He has now been sober since 2010, and said his dependency came from feeling lost.
The young star told Cosmopolitan: “I definitely think a lot of the drinking that happened towards the end of Potter, and for a little bit after it finished, it was panic and not knowing what to do next, and not being comfortable enough in who I was to remain sober.
“But I will always be fascinated and frustrated by the question of, ‘is this something that would have happened anyway or was this to do with Potter?’”
Comedian and actor Russell has suffered massively with addiction. From drink and drugs to sex and eating disorders, the star has suffered it all.
He is open about his struggles and has proudly been sober since 2002.
Speaking of his sobriety he said: “”When I started, I took it one day at a time.
“Ultimately, I found that spirituality worked for me.”
Star of PS I Love You, Gerard Butler, has been sober for more than two decades.
He went to rehab before he could reach full-blown pill addiction but claimed that his blackout drinking ruined his career as a lawyer in his twenties, as he got fired from his job at a Edinburgh law firm due to his drinking.
When he was 15 years sober he said: “”When you hear the word rehab, you think, ‘He’s a mess, he’s f***ed up.’ But I’m glad I did it. I’ve made a s**tload of wrong decisions in my life. But I know I’ve made some right ones as well.”
Celebrating a year of sobriety, Lily shared some images on her social media with before and after, as she wrote: “1 year completely sober! So grateful for my health and happiness.”
Lily said she considered taking heroin at the lowest point of her struggle with addictions, admitting: “I knew when that thought popped into my head it was time to confront my demons.”
Back in 2018 Lily admitted that she used to drink a bottle of Grey Goose vodka a day but the star has now been sober for two years.
Frontman from Coldplay, Chris, lives a very healthy life and doesn’t drink alcohol, smoke or even drink coffee.
He said the band indulged in a lot of partying in their early days. The singer has since stopped drinking and is completely sober.
Speaking of his experiences with alcohol, the singer said: “I’m not really a great drinker, I don’t really do very well with it.
“I become very depressed or too much. I acknowledge I can already be a strong flavour, and drinking makes it a bit too strong.”
Kate Moss used to be famous for her wild partying days but this is far behind her now as she avoids drinking entirely.
She’s still regular seen at boozy events but has swapped the cocktails for mocktails.
Kate’s close friend DJ Fat Tony (who is also sober) said, “Kate’s been clean for over two years. Me and my sober mates now have a better time than we ever did when we used to drink and take drugs.”
Sensational singer Elton has been sober for three decades now. He posted on Instagram to celebrate the momentous milestone.
He wrote: “Reflecting on the most magical day having celebrated my 30th Sobriety Birthday.
“So many lovely cards, flowers and chips from my sons, David, friends in the Program, staff at the office and in our homes.
“I’m truly a blessed man. If I hadn’t finally taken the big step of asking for help 30 years ago, I’d be dead.
“Thank-you from the bottom of my heart to all the people who have inspired and supported me along the way.”
Jack, the son of Ozzy, has struggled with addiction in the past, following in the footsteps of his father.
However, he decided to make a change and celebrated his 10th year of sobriety in 2013, where he Tweeted: “Well I never thought this was gonna happen 10 years ago.”
The loveable Friends star suffered with addiction while playing his role of Chandler on the US Sitcom.
He has been honest about struggling with his alcohol addiction for many years.
It all started in 1997, when Matthew got hooked on prescription pill Vicodin after a jet-ski accident. That same year he headed to rehab for the first time.
He said: “”I didn’t get sober because I felt like it, I got sober because I was worried I was going to die the next day.”
