NEW DELHI: NCB officer Sameer Wankhede is no stranger to probing celebrities caught with drugs.
On Saturday evening, he led a team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) sleuths that busted a drugs party aboard a luxury cruise anchored off Mumbai.
Following the raid, actor Shah Rukh Khan’s 23-year-old son Aryan and a few others were detained and later arrested.
Wankhede, the zonal director of the anti-drugs agency, said that narcotics were recovered at the Goa-bound cruise and an investigation is under way.
Not long ago, Wankhede led the high-profile investigation into the drugs racket at Bollywood following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The IRS officer grilled actor Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik in connection with the case.
Over the years, he has arrested famous personalities like Armaan Kohli and probed actors such as Sara Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sharaddha Kapoor over their links to narcotics.
Back in 2013, he caught singer Mika Singh at the Mumbai airport with foreign currency.
Recently, Wankhede’s team arrested actor Arjun Rampal’s girlfriend’s brother in a drugs case in Goa.
Last year, a team led by Wankhede was attacked by a mob of men during a raid in Mumbai.
The officer is married to Marathi actor Kranti Redkar.
