Celebrity MasterChef has booted off another famous face who was vying for a place in the most stressful final on telly.
It was a tough one tonight (September 10) as the wannabe chefs faced the terrifying task of impressing the professional eaters, also known as the restaurant critics, and these were Jimmy Hamriya, Grace Dent and William Sitwell.
The celebrities, Love Island‘s Kem Cetinay, EastEnders and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!‘s Joe Swash, presenter Melanie Sykes, athlete Kadeena Cox, former footballer-turned-TV host Dion Dublin and The Only Way is Essex‘s Megan McKenna, all had a huge task on their hands.
They had to make one meal and it had to be perfect.
Kadeena was up first, serving Escovitch fish with spicy sweet potato spirals and it looked lovely – and it tasted lovely, too, by the critics’ reactions.
Megan made lobster ravioli in a vodka sauce with gluten-free pasta, and by the sounds of the reactions from the professionals, it was amazing.
William Sitwell said: “It’s the sort of dish Michelin star chefs would slap on a menu, but it’s made by Megan.” Which is praise indeed.
Dion was up next and served cod loin, potatoes and bean salad, which the critics were full of praise for, with Grace saying she would definitely have dinner at his house as she knew it would be a great night apparently.
Things didn’t go as well with Joe, who served pan-fried duck with potatoes and carrots, but the presentation wasn’t the best as the meat was bleeding onto the plate, which wasn’t the most appetising, but they did think it tasted nice.
Lastly was Melanie, who unfortunately didn’t have a great day with her prawn and monks beard risotto, as she was ten minutes late serving it to start with and they weren’t very complimentary about the taste.
Lastly, Kem served a duck breast dish with lots of other bits going on, such as veggies, purees, sauces and a cracker, and they were very impressed, noting that the sauces were not easy to do.
It wasn’t much of a surprise when they announced that Melanie Sykes would be leaving the competition.
She said: “I’ve been stressed, I’ve had moments of joy, moments of complete blimming agony, but I’ll never stop cooking. I might even take some cooking lessons actually.”
So that leaves Kem, Joe, Kadeena, Dion and Megan all through to finals week.
